Have you struggled in relationships? Do you feel alone even in your friendships or marriage? Have you felt like your past will not stay in the past?

Would you like to understand how things got the way they are, and make changes for the better? Would you like to begin living more authentically? Are you ready to begin deep and meaningful work that gives you peace and fulfillment?

For more than 10 years, I’ve helped countless clients understand more about themselves and others, discovering solutions to a wide range of issues. I am passionate about achieving results and refuse to let us “be stuck.” You will leave the counseling experience with both a greater understanding of who you are and how you can be the truest and most authentic version of yourself.

Relationships

All people, at their core, crave meaningful relationships. I believe that healthy relationships start internally. You may have an unhealthy relationship with yourself, plagued by negative self-talk or low self-esteem. We’ll use a combination of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Jungian Personality Theory, and Attachment Theory to help you better understand your inner self. We’ll apply Relational Life Therapy to improve your relationship skills and interactions with those around you. Together, we can discover a stronger sense of self and strengthen the connections in your life.

Trauma/PTSD & Past Experiences

You may think about trauma as a horrible event or events that changed life for the worse. But on a simpler level, it’s anything that happened to you in the past that still bothers you and negatively affects your life. You might even be unaware that past experiences are affecting you as much as they are. Through EMDR therapy, we will work to leave your past in the past so that you can focus on your positive future.

Life Transitions

Perhaps a sudden or negative life experience has upset the balance of your life. When the structure and order that you expect in your everyday life break down, chaos can creep in and steal your joy. We’ll work together to confront this chaos and navigate your life back to the safety and security of structure and order. Whether it’s the grief of a sudden loss, a difficult career move or transition, or a personal crisis of understanding where and how life disruptions occurred, we’ll work to move past and heal.

Growth & Discovery

Maybe everything is going smoothly in your life, but you’re longing for something more. We can explore your desires for meaning and purpose. You can affect profound and meaningful growth in your career, social lives, and spirituality. Whether dating coaching, starting your own business, or strategies for finding your ideal social group, I love helping clients search for and achieve their best selves.

Who Is Chris Lacour?

Chris Lacour was born and raised in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. His experiences with mental health started young. As a child, Chris was diagnosed with severe ADHD and spent most of his early childhood getting in trouble for being completely off-the-chart bonkers. As a teen, Chris started to realize that most adults did not understand how to handle his symptoms, so after learning skills to manage his ADHD, the world got a lot easier to navigate.

Chris received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the College of Charleston and master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from The Citadel. He then began his clinical work with inpatient psychiatric care and low-income community mental health. Chris worked for several years delivering home-based therapy to low-income and at-risk individuals before spending 2 years working in outpatient substance abuse intervention and education groups. In 2015, Chris joined a small but rapidly growing group private practice. After joining the management team in 2018, he had the privilege of helping the company grow into the largest group practice in the state. Approachable, collaborative, and accepting, Chris is passionate about helping you reach your full potential.
