Who is Patti Moynihan?

Patti has an uncanny love for psychology, philosophy, therapy, and wellness. In her early twenties, she developed an insatiable drive to understand human behavior and a powerful curiosity to learn how individuals make meaning and navigate the complexities of life: physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.

Her curiosity has continued to grow, and she spends most of her time reading, attending lectures, workshops, and study groups. She is dedicated to staying as informed as possible on current research and developments in the fields of individual and systemic psychology, neurobiology, therapy, creativity, and life coaching. When she is not studying psychology and therapy, she is exercising, riding her bike, learning and performing improv acting, and connecting with friends and family.

After navigating a uniquely challenging childhood, Patti attended college as a competitive springboard diver. As the pressures grew, she found relief in food. Unable to accept weight gain, she discovered purging as a solution to counteract the otherwise negative effects of her uncontrollable binging. Eventually, she felt completely out of control and reached out for help at the university counseling center. The counselor immediately said, “You have a mental illness and we can’t help you here. Go see a psychiatrist.” The experience was traumatic and devastating because it did not feel accurate. Patti was very well adjusted socially; she had many friends and was succeeding in school and her sport. From that day on, she engaged in years of multiple modes of therapy and began an unending study of psychology and human behavior. She freed herself from the binging and purging behaviors and has gained a wealth of knowledge.

Prior to a successful career in nutrition, wellness, and life coaching, Patti spent years as a coach helping women start and grow their own direct selling businesses. She loved helping women move from I can’t to I am succeeding and this is fun. Patti has a knack for finding strengths in people’s perceived weaknesses. She helps people discover their resources, believe in themselves, and make desired changes in their lives.

Patti received an MA in Psychology from the University of West Georgia and an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Valdosta State University.

Patti recently moved to Charleston from Atlanta, GA, where she spent her adulthood. She grew up in Davidson, NC, and Silver Spring, MD. Patti deeply loves and enjoys her two sons, one daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and her dog and cat.
